Lush green gardens, beautiful glowy light, and just a happy day – that’s how I remember Arfa and Roshaan’s nikkah day as. Their couple portraits are some of my favourites and super special to me – you see, Roshaan happens to be one of my brother’s oldest friends :). It’s always so sweet when people I have known since my childhood/young years come to me for their precious and special events. I remember smiling ear-to-ear when Arfa told me she was getting married to Roshaan! How small can the world get?!
Their nikkah took place at the iconic ISNA masjid in Mississauga – if I you have been on my blog, it won’t be a surprise for you to see yet another one of the nikkahs I have shot at that masjid haha. A few other posts from the same venue are linked right here and here.
I remember when I initially spoke to Arfa about her vision for her portraits there was one specific thing she mentioned – that she loved bright and SUNNY photographs! But guess what…..on the day of her nikkah, it was raining cats and dogs. Naturally that got me worried because how was I supposed to bring that glowy effect in her photographs? But….I am guessing she made a lot of dua for it to be a beautiful sunny day…and literally towards the last 15 minutes of their session, the sun broke through the dark grey clouds, and created the most glowy and beautiful light I have *ever* photographed in.
We started their day with their nikkah ceremony at ISNA in the afternoon followed by their beautiful photoshoot at the Riverwood Conservancy. If you remember seeing Marlee’s wedding from there, the park looks very different in this particular post because I took these ones in the fall, where everything was an amazing hue of reds and oranges…After finishing up their portraits, we headed over to Grand Victorian Convention Centre’s terrace room upstairs where they held an intimate dinner for their closest friends and family.
Take a look through their beautiful nikkah photos. I cannot wait to photograph their mehendi and shaadi this year!
Kind words from Arfa:
Qurrat is one of the most talented people I have met! I am so glad I went with her for my event photos, because I absolutely LOVE them all. She caught all the right details, angles and was so fun to work with!
