Pinky & Abbas’ Mehndi was the first of three events I had the pleasure of shooting for them
back in October of 2021, and I could not have asked for a better event to kick off their wedding
weekend! The energy, details, and beautiful weather all made for some magical photos. Pinky and Abbas were my first official New York City couple, followed by Hamira and Haseeb, who are good friends of theirs! You can check out their beautiful nikkah which was held at Beekman Hotel and Dumbo Loft here, and their magical wedding reception at Old Westbury Gardens & Crest Hollow Country Club.

Long Island is one of my favorite places to shoot at because of all of the beautiful shoot locations and venues, and also the amazing vendors! I’m so glad I got to work with  MadebyWaida again, Waheda is truly one of the most talented Pakistani makeup artists in Long Island – her work truly speaks for itself! Her henna details were done by Monita of @hennaforallny and were equally stunning,

Both Pinky and Abbas wore Mohsin Naveed Ranjha, and the details were truly impeccable. Her lehenga choli was stunning, and the velvet jacket Abbas wore was a really unique tie-in to the beautiful fall weather.

One of my absolute favourite shots for any bride is a twirl shot, and  Mohsin Naveed Ranjha lehengas always deliver the perfect flare for them! We were also able to get a gorgeous shot of the lehenga in the venue with the fun floor wrap!

Speaking of decor, I’ve been loving the trend of floor wraps. It transforms the venue and makes so much of a difference. The decor done by Exclusive Events for Pinky and Abbas’ mehendi was the perfect amount of color and drama for the event, and the unique centerpieces were adorable. Mehendis are such fun events to attend and photograph, and I got so much inspiration from all the lovely details!

The event was held at Villa Lombardi’s, a beautiful venue I’ve had the opportunity to shoot at a  few times now. It has a European-meets-modern kind of vibe, and the greenery and courtyard around it make for a lovely backdrop!

Pinky and Abbas were so fun to work with and a pleasure to shoot, and I’m so glad we were able to spend so much time on their couple portraits both in and outside of the venue to capture all of the amazing details. One thing I emphasize to all of my brides is to make sure they allocate enough time before the event starts for photos. It gives us time to capture all the details you carefully planned in the calm before the event. We also had time to do the family photographs before the event started which was a real treat! It’s a detail that’s often overlooked but something you should consider when planning, especially an event like a mehendi where you can get your photos with everyone in before all the dancing and hungama starts.

The energy at Pinky and Abbas’ mehendi set the perfect vibe and was so contagious – I truly felt like I was transported back to Pakistan with all the bright colors, music, and fun entrances! They were an absolute pleasure to photograph and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to work with them.
