As the first proper spring/summer wedding of last year, Saba and Faran’s celebrations felt like the sweetest way to welcome the season back with their shendi (shaadi + mehendi). The event was filled with color, movement, and so much heart, with both the bride and groom’s families so involved, making every part of it so special.

The day started as usual with the getting-ready portraits. Saba wore a stunning outfit by Karigur bridals which was a fun twist on the traditional reg lehenga with the colourful chattapatti border making it perfect for the shendi. Her hair and makeup was done by Makeup by Sabba, and her mehendi was done by Nasrin Henna @nasrinhennadesign. The green jewelry and braid paired with her look really combined the mehendi and shaadi looks together!

We also got some really special portraits with Saba’s mom and sisters during her getting ready session – always super sweet moments to capture before the big day.

The couple portraits were taken at Riverwood Conservancy, one of our favourite locations in the GTA and for good reason – where soft greenery and spring light gave us the dreamiest backdrop for their pre-event photos. They have stunning foliage across all seasons and we were lucky enough to catch the peak of cherry blossom season which made for some of my favourite photos!

The event itself took place at Red Rose Convention Centre, which was transformed beautifully into the perfect shendi set up by Hera Events Decor (which happens to be the groom’s sister!). They’re based in Ottawa but do Toronto weddings as well and they absolutely killed it with the stunning decor. When combining events, it can be hard to capture the vibes of both functions you’re trying to combine, but this decor blended the two beautifully.T he space was brought to life with vibrant florals, intentional color palettes, and a beautifully executed floor wrap that tied everything together seamlessly.

One of the most meaningful parts of this wedding was something that went beyond aesthetics. Saba’s sister uses a wheelchair, and this was one of the only weddings we’ve ever photographed where intentional accessibility was built directly into the stage design. A ramp was added so she could be fully part of every moment, which Saba’s dad personally helped make sure it was set up.

The mehendi portion was filled with performances and dances that were thoughtfully planned and so much fun to witness. Every transition flowed beautifully, and you could tell how much love went into organizing the celebrations.

The night ended with an emotional rukhsati with both families. This was one of the weddings where you could feel that there was so much love in that room, so much intention in every detail, and such deep involvement from both families throughout the entire wedding. it was thoughtful, inclusive, and deeply rooted in family and was the sweetest way to begin the season.
