Sharing part two of Nadira and Vilayath’s East African and Indian wedding – their intimate valima! If you haven’t already done so, check out their photographs from their wedding day and part 1 of their festivities!
We started their valima day with a photoshoot at the absolutely beautiful and breathtaking Knox College, situated in the heart of downtown, Toronto. If you have been following me for a while, you would know that I shoot here A LOT and it is undoubtedly one of my favourite photoshoot locations to photograph at in Toronto.
My favourite part about shooting there is the perfect balance of the dramatic, and the bright and airy shots I am able to achieve in my photographs. The interior part, with the majestic arches give an illusion that it’s a castle you’re shooting at! The stained glass windows in the church of the building, are so beautifully golden and let an amazing light in when it’s bright and sunny outside; you can see what I mean by seeing the first few photographs below :). The best part about it is that it is an indoor location – and in a place like Canada, where the weather is so incredibly unpredictable this is like a saviour for wedding photographers and for brides and grooms!! I can’t say enough good things about it!
Jenny did a fantastic job once again at Nadira’s look. I absolutely LOVED her semi-braided hair! Braids are so underrated! More people should incorporate them in their bridal looks!
Their portrait session was followed by their intimate valima reception that they hosted at Candles Banquet Hall with their close family and friends.
Thank you so much Nadira and Vilayath, for trusting me to capture your special days :). It has been nothing but a pleasure being of service to you both! Thank you for your kindness and warm and welcoming nature. AND for those fantastic cookies you baked for me when you came to see me too! <3
Kind words from Nadira and Vilayath:
Booking Qurrat was the best way to initiate our wedding planning. Beyond her wonderful eye and talent, she gave us immediate confidence by talking through what she needed from us and what we could expect from her. This isn’t a side hustle for Qurrat; she is incredibly professional in her services, and transparent about costs. In a world of sketchy/late vendors, Qurrat is a breath of fresh air. But at the same time, she’s a friend. Her support and guidance in determining the details we needed to keep in mind when planning our wedding were invaluable. She’s punctual, responsive to inquiries, and her talent and care shines through in her work. She’s calming and trustworthy, which allowed us to let ourselves to be silly and enjoy the photography process. We are very fortunate to have had someone who was able to capture our wedding in such wonderful photos and a lovely photo album.
