The final event of Pinky & Abbas’s wedding weekend was a stunning reception. I had the pleasure of flying back to photograph this event and I am so grateful – it was truly the perfect end to the festivities! It was my first New York Pakistani wedding and I could not have asked for a better couple to experience it with. The amount of details and time allocated for the photos was a treat and you can see it paid off!

We started with portraits at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion. It’s such a beautiful historic location that made a perfect backdrop for Pinky & Abbas’s reception outfits. One tip I like to give my brides is to make sure to check the details of your photoshoot location. This location required a photography permit, which we didn’t know of until we got there. Luckily we were able to get in, but it did cut the portrait session short – so be sure to double-check!

Pinky went for a classic Suffuse lehenga for her reception look. The work on Suffuse outfits is gorgeous but also heavy. Make sure you get sufficient lining or a can-can that can help you support all that weight! The jewelry was a nice set with contrasting red tones and MadebyWaida worked her magic again as the makeup artist for this day – I love how different all three looks were.

The wedding was held at the Hilton in Long Island and the decor transformed the venue! There were wall-to-wall drapes that set the backdrop, along with a beautiful stage. There was a chai cart and fun dessert set up – since receptions are usually more laid back, it’s always a good time to add something fun to your wedding!

We had a chance to take portraits and family photos at the venue with the backdrop before the event started, which is always nice! I loved all of the outfits and taking portraits of Pinky and her sisters! Especially the twirl shots 🙂

After some fun entrances were the cake cutting and the speeches – the candids during the speeches are some of my favorite moments to capture, and I always enjoy learning a little bit more about my couples!

The lighting and smoke for the first dance made the pictures so dreamy and regal, and we ended off the event with an open dance floor. It was the perfect end to this wedding weekend full of friends, family and fun!

Pinky and Abbas, thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding festivities! I got a true taste of Long Island and all of its beautiful venues and shoot locations – I can’t wait to come back for my next New York wedding!
