If you are reading this then you are probably getting married. I want to start off by saying CONGRATULATIONS on tying the knot! You’ve got such exciting times ahead!!
I can imagine all that’s racing through your mind, trying to start on the planning, selecting your colour schemes, outfits, details, picking your vendors and what not!
The planning sometimes could be a *little* stressful, but with a little bit of organization, there’s nothing you can’t handle!
I absolutely love weddings! That is why I have dedicated my career to ensuring brides have seamless and amazing wedding days filled with memories that will last the rest of their lives.
Regardless of how far away your day is, I am here to help.
As a wedding photographer shooting for years, I have shot hundreds of couples (going into thousand!) and can confident say I can talk about what works to make a wedding photo-perfect and what doesn’t.
Many times, while planning a wedding, brides are looking for advice from their vendors to make their weddings an organized, stress-free and memorable day.
In this 3 part guide, I have included a few tips for capturing your wedding day to make it the most photography-friendly possible. You want to make it easier on your vendors to perform their best and help your photographer capture your day in the best way possible!
We’ll start from the beginning of planning, how we start photographing a wedding day, taking ethereal portraits, to the end of the event.
Whenever I start working with a new couple I like to start off by getting to really know them, in a meaningful way.
For this reason, I can confidently say I still remember the names of every single one of my couples even going back 7 years!
I like to meet with my clients (whether in person, or over facetime) and learn about their story. As a photographer I strive to make sure that the photographs I take tell your love story – what’s already happened and what is yet to come.
I love to ask how you both met, what your favourite things are about each other, so your photos can be a true reflection of you rather than forced, unnatural poses.
In that first meeting I also ask what you are looking forward to the most when it comes to the wedding. 95% of my clients say portraits!
But from the photographer’s perspective, I always encourage a photography collection that covers the whole day from the beginning to the end.
Honestly, ask my brides: at least a quarter of the money shots come out of the getting-ready session!
This way the photographs can become the perfect storytellers of your wedding day. The photographs give life to what has passed.
I hope this guide can help you in planning your very special day, whether it’s working with me or someone else!
It’s split into 3 parts: (1) the getting ready, (2) couple portraits and (3) event coverage!
If you follow many of these tips, I promise you a wedding day that will be as ‘picture-perfect’ as it possibly can be.
