It finally feels like spring has sprung, and we could not think of a more perfect time to share Saad and Shifa’s Pakistani Mehendi in Oakville, which we shot last year on the blog. They had such a fun, Bollywood-worthy photoshoot in a sunflower field at Davis Family Farm in Caledon for their mehendi. It was one of the more unique locations we’ve shot at – and hopefully get to photograph at again because it looks straight out of DDLJ (f you know, you know).

Before the mehendi festivities began, we headed out to Davis Family Sunflower Farm in Caledon. It was peak sunflower season + golden hour light = a vision that was pure Bollywood.

Saad and Shifa came ready. The outfits, the energy, the poses — everything felt cinematic. We moved through the farm, capturing the couple’s portraits against the stunning backdrop of towering sunflowers in full bloom. It was the kind of session where the location does half the work, and your couple does the rest.

Shifa was in a stunning orange-and-pink outfit that screamed mehendi, and her floral jewelry and perfectly matching juttis tied her whole look together flawlessly. Saad and Shifa’s friends also came for photos, bringing the fun and color, and we shot some gorgeous group frames that perfectly captured the vibe of the whole weekend ahead.

The mehendi event was hosted at the stunning Oakville Legacy Banquet Hall and was transformed beautifully into the perfect Pakistani Mehendi decor. The Sparktacular Events team @sparktacularevents brought the décor to life. Think festive warmth, rich tones, and styling that felt so colourful and perfect.

Every detail of the day was meticulously planned by @_eventshouse. From the timeline to the transitions, the day flowed seamlessly. That kind of planning makes a photographer’s job so much better — and the photos show it.

The rest of the night was filled with so much fun and energy in everything from the entrances, to the rasms, and of course lots of dancing. It was such a fun event and reminded me why we love mehendis so much! What made this celebration so special, though, was the people. The love between Saad and Shifa was so evident, but just as beautiful was the joy surrounding them—their friends hyping them up, their families beaming with pride, and every guest fully present in the moment. It’s these in-between moments, the candid laughter and quiet glances, that make a gallery feel alive.

The mehendi was just the beginning of Saad and Shifa’s wedding weekend!
